TNT Express has restarted door to door pickup and delivery services to select postal codes across key cities in India for both domestic and international services. This was followed by the reinstatement of a similar service in Australia as well.

The B2C e-commerce market is leapfrogging. But for residential deliveries, recipients are not always home to accept their shipments. TNT’s Picture Proof of Delivery will enable couriers to release residential shipments without signature and give e-commerce merchants and consumers relief that the shipments have reached their destinations.

Residential shipments may be released without signature at recipients’ doorstep or such other appropriate place, with a Picture Proof of Delivery, when recipients are not personally able to receive the delivery.

This applies to all TNT domestic and international shipments delivered to residential addresses, improving recipients’ experience, and assisting the courier company in decreasing its Carbon footprint.

For residential shipments that require a signature, customers need to provide special instructions at shipment creation or customers can request signatures for all shipments for their account via an opt-out email to their sales executive. TNT’s terms and conditions will be updated to support the operational change the logistics company stated.

TNT thinking ahead of the curve

Back in 2010, DARE covered TNT’s announcement of its Express Import System. This was an innovative tool that provided access to import shipments in over 170 countries along with local currency billing services.

To continue providing customers with the best possible services, this time TNT Express is implementing a temporary surcharge on all FedEx Express and TNT international parcel and freight shipments, from April 2023. However, the surcharge does not apply to domestic intra-country shipments.

FedEx Corporation, FedEx Acquisition B.V. and TNT Express N.V. (TNT Express) jointly announced in 2016 that FedEx had acquired TNT Express. The €4.4 billion (~$4.8billion) acquisition aims to combine the strengths of the two companies – especially their air express network and road network.
