“We are always one idea away from greatness.” It is this powerful belief that governs Ajit Andhare’s decisions and spurs his actions.

Ajit Andhare
Founder & CEO of Colosceum Media Pvt. Ltd.

As Regional Activation Director with Unilever, Thailand, he was ensconced in a cushy corporate environment when Ajit Andhare decided to press ‘Eject’ and strike out on his own.

How did he gather the guts to make that move?

True to his creative leanings, Ajit has an interesting answer: “A large organization is like a sophisticated jetliner. I had learned the controls of that complex machinery. Now, it was the solo flyer on a hang glider that fascinated me.”

He launched Colosceum  Media Pvt. Ltd. in 2007 with private equity funding. Today, the company develops and produces content for India’s premier TV channels such as Star Plus (Amul Masterchef India), Colors (Jai Shri Krishna), Star ONE (Shakuntala) and NDTV Imagine (Meera). In the last financial year, the company had revenues of about INR 33 crore, with a net profit of INR 34 Lacs.

So what is Andhare’s advice to aspiring entrepreneurs who are afraid to take the lunge?

“The most likely reason for your fear is a weakness you are unwilling or unable to confront,” says Ajit. “Writing out a business plan is the best head-clearing exercise: it gives you a roadmap, and the confidence to go in the direction of your dreams.”
