No doubt that an entrepreneur emerges out from a typical office-going crowd. It is the daredevilness  to start new based on one idea, which makes him different from the rest million. Startup Weekend is all about incubating that Big Idea. Converting the thought into action and building a new company in 54 hours.

A day before the real action-packed Startup Weekend Bangalore that starts on Jaunary 20th, 2012 evening, for the first time, the organizers conducted a special program called Startup Weekend Bootcamp.

This boot-camp was aimed at educating the participants about the various technologies for building their products. The five hour program included two deep-dive sessions on Android (Open-source environment) and Microsoft (closed environment) followed by a pitch session. The Android Session was conducted by four evangelists from Bangalore Android User Group (BAUG) namely Gaurav Lochan, Ravi Vyas, Badri Kulkarni and Soham Mondal. The session covered various aspects of application development environment on an Eclipse tool including the UI editor, Android manifest, activities, emulators, market place registrations, significance of developing on various versions and the monetization aspects from applications.

The other session on Microsoft Azure was conducted by Gawtham KN, Developer Evangelist, Microsoft, at Microsoft. Starting with the fundamentals of Cloud computing and its various components like Software-as-a-Service (SAAS), Platform-as-a-Service (PAAS) and Infrastructure –as-a-Service (IAAS), they shared a comprehensive comparative analysis of the present market place and the offerings of various clod providers via-a-vis Microsoft. The final session was small pitch session conducted by TLabs. Three budding entrepreneurs namely Avinash Mohan Chetty, Naveen JP and Sathish VJ presented their ideas on delivery services, social gaming and community services respectively.

After crossing the first hurdle of understanding and using technology, it will be interesting watch how do participants cross the other hurdles of this journey, and take their ideas to execution.
