What would really make somebody attend a seminar on a Sunday in a city like Bangalore where everybody else are busy enjoying their weekend?
I asked myself this question when I found the Industry Rockstar seminar crowded with people at Vivanta by Taj Yeshwantpur. Audience from all class of business including aspiring entrepreneurs, businessmen, owners of various companies and working professionals had assembled to learn from the untold secrets of the Industry Rockstars.
Jeff and Kane with their charismatic and influential personalities kept the attendees fully charged through out the seminar.
I have jotted down a few words of wisdom in random order which appealed to me. These include topics that are essential for a person to be an industry rockstar.
- Personal Branding
- First to Market
- Public Speaking
- 100% focus on results
Those were most obvious ones.
- biggest changes require smallest adjustments
Instead of waiting for the world to change, a person can himself start thinking about what changes he can bring about himself and start with it. The essential message was in the same spirit of breaking down big tasks into into smaller tasks. However, the emphasis that it also works for “changes” is what came across as fresh-mint.
- you will be more effective if you move from statements to questions
Do you remember Steven Covey’s converting “feelings” to ‘verbs” from his seven habits book. This was in the same spirit.
- Stage Time = Wealth Time
When you have an audience in front of you, it is the biggest opportunity to share knowledge, market your strengths and connect with people which in turn will convert into wealth over time.
- Venture capitalists and capitalists invest in the team
- a company is 100% a reflection of the owner,
- Your customer will buy the emotion that you are having with you
- Your concerns are your customers concerns
Damn good sound bytes one can mull.
- Rockstars charge rockstar rates
That is the essence of success. If you believe you are a rockstar then charge rockstar rates. If you don’t believe then forget it.
- the quality of your life is determined by the quality of questions that you ask yourself and others
Resonates with the “changes” views reported above.
- Rockstars position themselves infront of others,
- If you cant make zero rupees into 5 crores you cant make 5 crores to 50 crores.,
- ideas are worth nothing
This is the most bold statement I came across. This resonates with the investors invest in teams view reported above.
- All businesses start small
- Your story is your biggest asset
- Authenticity sells
- Fun sells, smart does not sell
many such words of wisdom; some of them were cast in a new role. I liked the way the seminar came across to nearly 400 attendees. It was big and the message were at a 90,000-feet level. It was fun and a lot of mull over.
